On-going implementation for smooth functioning.

Ensuring the maximum possible supply is only possible if all systems are functioning at all times. The prerequisite for this is constant monitoring. Some facilities such as impoundments or tunnels are in such remote or path-less areas that they can only be inspected and maintained on foot or by helicopter. Other facilities can be reached by road or specially built cable cars. Especially in times of snow melt and after storms, the retaining structures require special care and must be cleaned.

The law states that all facilities must be properly serviced and maintained, also due to the right to reversion: after the expiry of the concession—operating time 80 years—the wet part is handed over to the contracting municipalities. The wet part includes e.g. impoundments, slope pipes, tunnels, pressure pipes, turbines.
